As relações de gênero na comunidade pesqueira de Pangane - estudo de caso 1992-2003

Abstract

This research work in the form of a research project is an attempt to present the realities of the Pangane community, in terms of gender, economic, political, cultural and psychological relations of that society with regard to the practice of small-scale fishing in particular. The title of the work suggests that we look at "Gender Representations in the Fishing Community of Pangane, at the Administrative Post of Mucojo, in the district of Macomia, in the province of Cabo-Delgado". The theme addresses the issue of gender in the fishing communities of Pangane, as a way of trying to understand the socio-economic, political and psychological relations between men and women. It also aims to try to understand the interaction of gender relations, the division of labor process and socio-cultural phenomena and how they interfere in the definition of the role of men and women in society in Panganense. In Pangane, the structuring of gender relations, associated with socio-cultural factors discriminate against women in the social division of tasks in artisanal fishing, and this fact places women in a situation of socio-economic dependence on men. The general objective of this simple investigation is to analyze the representations of the Pangane fishing community and the role of gender in artisanal fishing. In order to prepare the research project, there was a methodological process that started with bibliographic research in the bibliographies of the city of Maputo as a way to familiarize ourselves with the object of study. Then, fieldwork was carried out on the ground (in the villages of Ingoane, Nagulue, Simbolango and Cogolo) in the town of Pangane. And finally, it was the process of compiling and analyzing data and preparing the preliminary report. As preliminary results it was verified that in the problematization of the object of study, the gender relations among the panganenses are unequal and, the woman is a victim of marginalization and with weak opportunity of access to natural resources and decision power. This problem is the result of a historical heritage that has been transferred from generation to generation and has crystallized in structural relations. (TRADUÇÃO NOSSA)
