Regras que regulam integração e interacção no mercado de câmbio informal em partes seleccionadas na Cidade de Maputo

Abstract

The present study analyzes the mechanisms of integration and interaction of individuals in the informal exchange rate system and the rules that regulate it. In the literature, the subject is discussed light from two perspectives. The first perspective looks at legal aspects of the sector informal and the second perspective looks at the informal sector as a means through which individuals satisfy their needs to survive. These perspectives make it possible to understand the informal sector as illegal and deprived of organization, however, by focusing only on the legal and survival aspects, lose sight of what happens in the day-to-day lives of informal exchange traders. Based on the ethnographic material collected at the selected locations in the city of Maputo, the present study shows that day-to-day activity in the foreign exchange sector informal is governed by rules based on trust, kinship, neighborhood, provenance, respect and secrecy. These rules regulate the integration of new operators informal exchange rate and the interaction between operators in that sector. Unlike other studies that look at the informal exchange rate as a space without rules, the present study shows that informal exchange is governed by rules that regulate the integration of new operators and the interaction between different operators (TRADUÇÃO NOSSA)
