O papel da educação ambiental na gestão dos resíduos sólidos em Mumemo

Abstract

This study addresses the Role of Environmental Education in Solid Waste Management in Mumemo, Marracuene District and aims to evaluate its performance in community awareness of good practices with regard to waste management solids. The purpose of the study is to awaken the Mumemo community about the impacts negative effects on health and the environment, which can arise from the poor management of solid waste households and is relevant to education for the best man-middle relationship environment. The same was based on a qualitative approach and had as data collection techniques, the combination of direct observation and semi-structured interview with 6 members of the structures district administrative offices, selected through non-probability sampling intentional. The study showed that there are environmental problems in Mumemo, which are characterized by the bad smell and visual impact resulting from the burning and decomposition of the solid waste scattered along the access roads and also deposited in pits open for this purpose, and in the open. The management of solid waste is done in a traditional way, which consists of burning or burying in homes and on access roads. Although the main streets that give access to the neighborhood from the national road no1 are clean, contrary to the situation in the interior of the neighborhood, the study concluded that there was no there are programmed and continuous actions of Environmental Education aimed at the management of solid waste, either at the level of the neighborhood or at the level of the administration of Marracuene. Environmental Education has the important role of raising awareness for the change of behavior of the Mumemo community, given the current situation of waste management household solids.
