Abstract

The present research is subordinated to the theme “Protection and risk factors in the family reintegration process – CRJIC case study”. The problem that motivated the research was to become aware of the existence of high rates of repeat offenders in the alternative protection measure Institutional Reception (CM, 2017, p. 2340; Vilanculos, Xavier, e Maússe, 2021, p. 171). The occurrence of this phenomenon (problem-situation) aroused the researcher's interest in analyzing the factors that facilitate (protection factors) and hinder (risk factors) the reintegration process - general objective - and, therefore, contribute to its confrontation and mitigation. The research had the following starting question: “How does the material deprivation of families influence the recidivism rates of children in the protection measure? alternative. Institutional Reception?” The positive hypothesis (H1) it was the material lack of families that influenced the recidivism rates of children in the alternative protection measure Institutional Reception. And the negative hypothesis (H0) it was the material deprivation of the families that did not influence the recidivism rates of children in the alternative protection measure Acolhimento Institucional. As for the methodological aspects, it was guided by a qualitative approach and by action research as a method of procedure.
