Mulher, violência doméstica e relações sociais em Maputo, 1996 – 2002

Abstract

The present work approaches the theme about Women, “Domestic Violence” and “Social Relations” in Maputo, between 1996 and 2002. The “Gender Relations”, “Social Relations”, and “Power” determine the position of women in society and constitute a barrier to its development. The “Family” constitutes the epicenter of the problems that involve the woman. The type of education to which women are subjected makes them consider the domestic space as their ideal place, which creates conditions for them to hardly overcome the problems that involve them. The phenomenon of “Domestic Violence” has proved to be quite controversial in its approach given the fact that it is observed in the private sphere and supported by the patriarchal model that continues to dominate all societies in the world. The Women's Forum is the meeting point for organizations and institutions that fight for the promotion of women's rights. The emergence of the TCV group created a new dynamic in the support and development of the Mozambican family. People began to realize that the issue of violence is not a particular or isolated issue, but something that affects all members of society without distinction of race, religion and social level. The participation of the TCV group in the preparation of the Preliminary Draft of the Family Law, which culminated in the amendment of the Law, adapting it to the Mozambican reality. Also noteworthy is the participation of the TCV group in the preparation of the Preliminary Draft Law on acts of “Domestic Violence”, so that these acts are considered public crimes and punishable under the terms of the Law (TRADUÇÃO NOSSA)
