Abstract

This work deals with the representation of women in Zambezian work - scenes from colonial life. Its starting point was the hypothesis that the context of writing the work contributes to the formation of certain social and cultural stereotypes, with the Following objectives: to understand the mechanisms of prejudice in the representation of women based on the work under study; establish a relationship between the representations made to women in the work and the socio-political context as well as the imagery surrounding the work and; establish relationships between the work under study and others that deal with women and the issue of their representation. The study is organized into five chapters, namely: the first chapter, the introduction, which includes aspects such as: the theme, the object of study, the research hypothesis, the objective of the work, the importance of the study, the motivation, and as the methodology; the second chapter refers to the literature review, which seeks to review the concepts related to the topic in question; the third chapter presents a history of the representation of women in literature; the fourth chapter is the analysis of the work; and finally we have the fifth chapter, which presents the conclusions reached with the work and some recommendations for future work
